Monday, 17 November 2008

The manufacture of the "Class 40" of Régis GARCIA, renforced with flax fibres, has started! This boat is built following the plans of the naval architect Julien MARIN and the manufacture is coordinated by the shipyard Marée Haute of Serge CALVEZ. The flax fibers are used for the manufacture of the hull and deck of the boat. The manufacturing process is divided into several parts::

1-The manufacture of sandwich plaques of 12m long. These sandwiches are reinforced with flax and soul of the sandwich is of balsa.

Fabrication des plaques Fabrication des plaques In these plaques will be cut panels which will then be assembled and then posed to the hull and the deck. The prepreg used is the FFA-300.

The shipyard "CDK Technologies" has produced these plaques in its autoclave to make these plaques 12m long!

2-The cutting of the panels (left of the photo below) which are then assembled on the mold of the hull of the boat
